Global IT services leader Prodapt expands into Puerto Rico, creating 200 well-paid engineering jobs on the island and positioning it as a key player for critical network support across the Americas.

Maryland, United States – Invest Puerto Rico (InvestPR), the island’s business attraction organization, proudly announces the expansion of Prodapt, a global IT services and consulting company specializing in telecommunications solutions based in India, into Puerto Rico. The company will establish a Network Engineering Center in San Juan, which is set to initially create 200 full-time engineering jobs.

The announcement was made during InvestPR’s participation in the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2024 in Maryland, the main event for promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. InvestPR facilitated Prodapt’s arrival on the island, where they will provide critical and strategic core network services to key clients across the Americas.

“This expansion underscores the island’s potential as a hub for innovation and technological advancement. Prodapt’s presence on the island will create high-quality jobs, enhance our position as a leader in the IT and telecommunications sectors, and drive economic growth,” said Ella Woger-Nieves, Chief Executive Officer of InvestPR.

Prodapt’s decision to invest in Puerto Rico was influenced by several factors, primarily the island’s highly educated and skilled talent in STEM and the IT/Network domain. Puerto Rico is a leader in STEM-focused talent, being the #1 jurisdiction in the United States graduating Hispanic engineers, with approximately 50% of university graduates holding a STEM degree.

“Prodapt’s decision to expand its operations to Puerto Rico validates the value of our island’s skilled workforce and its openness to business. This investment will drive economic growth, create job opportunities, and further solidify Puerto Rico’s prestige as a strategic location for global companies,” added Manuel Cidre, Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DEDC).

Prodapt’s initial investment of $2 million to establish its Network Engineering Center in San Juan aims to leverage Puerto Rico’s highly qualified workforce and strategic location as a gateway to the United States and the Americas to better serve its key clients across the Americas. This represents a new vertical of technological services to be rendered from the island, positioning Puerto Rico as a new critical player in the connectedness and technological sector.

“The Puerto Rico center offers cost-effective and mission-critical delivery operations for our Communications Service Providers (CSP’s) clients. Combining Prodapt’s Telecom-Native experience, Gen AI-powered solutions, and Puerto Rico’s skilled talent base, the new center will greatly enhance our efforts to help clients achieve their business goals,” explained Harsha Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Prodapt.

This marks the fifth year that InvestPR has participated in the event and the second one in which a company announces its arrival or expansion to Puerto Rico at the SelectUSA Investment Summit. Over the past five years, InvestPR has successfully accelerated the island’s economic development, with commitments of over 20,000 new jobs, $1 billion in capital investments, and the establishment of nearly 2,500 new businesses.
